Slewing bearing is a large bearing that is designed to bear large radial load, overturning moment, and axial load instantly. They are also known as turntable bearings and feature a mounting hole, outer gear, and inner gear. In addition to the sealing device and lubricating oil, they make the integral structure reliable, compact, and easy to maintain.

Depending on the type of teeth, slewing ring bearing can be classified into internal type, external type, and toothless type. When it is based on the type, it can be divided into the double row, cross cylindrical, cross tapered, and four-point contact. The cross cylindrical type is known for its high load capacity, whereas the four-point contact provides high static load capacity.

You should note that slewing bearings are used in mining machinery, port machinery, lifting machinery, high-precision radar machinery, and construction machinery.

Single Row Slewing Bearing

This type of slewing bearing has a row of steel balls separated by an isolation block. The outer and inner rings are integral and steel balls loaded by the plugging holes. Ideally, steel balls are in contact with the rolling path at 4 points, and they can bear radial force, axial force, and the tipping moment. This type of bearing is ideal for medium-sized applications.

Double Row

The structure of this type of slewing bearing is quite similar to a single row except that it has two rows of steel balls. Moreover, the steel balls are of equal size. In this case, the outer and inner rings are important, and the balls can be loaded by the plugging holes. This type of bearing is suitable for heavy-duty applications.

Three-Row Slewing Bearing

Ideally, this type of bearing is known for its heavy load-bearing capacity. Therefore, it is used to operate a heavy load and is made of three rings hence its name. Its lower and upper rows are distributed to withstand axial force and prevent tipping moment. In fact, the radial force is handled by another row of rollers arranged vertically.

Cross Roller

This type of bearing has cylindrical rollers as its rolling bodies. Also, the rollers are arranged at 90 degrees cross arrangement. Its raceway in the outer and inner rings is linear. 50% of its rollers bear the upward axial force, and the remaining half handle axial force upward.

Lightweight Series

This type of sewing has the same structure as an ordinary sewing bearing. It is used in filling machinery, food machinery, and environmental protection.

Double Exclusion

This type of ball slewing bearing has both lower and upper rows of steel balls, outer rings, inner rings, lubricating, sealing devices, and isolation blocks. The structure of the diameter is quite complex.

Although slewing bearings carry out heavy-duty applications, there is a need to take care of them to ensure they maintain their accuracy and improve their useful life. You need to follow the procedures carefully to provide optimal performance. Also, there is a need to follow the right installation procedures. The fact that slewing bearings support heavy loads and rotate in different positions, then their installation must be done by a skilled person.
